Hamferð has, for nearly two decades, held a unique role in Faroese music. Built around a core of doom metal – slow, heavy, and somber – a genre that originally emerged with bands like Black Sabbath and Candlemass, Hamferð’s music has steadily evolved into something difficult to categorize or compare.
Their sound is intense, heavy, and dark, reflecting the shadows of Faroese nature and history; longing, loss, and grief. This is where Hamferð belongs, and from the stage they extend an invitation to the audience to embrace these challenging emotions.

The name Tunghoyrt comes from the word meaning “hard of hearing” or almost deaf.
Despite playing heavy music, their songs are rooted in deep emotions, with themes such as love, anger, and wildness. Their songs are melodic and dynamic, and their performances are intense and right in your face.
