Prima Facie

During the anniversary week, the theatre company DFC will perform the play Prima Facie on stages around the country.

The play puts a spotlight on women’s rights, and justice – and on the gaps that still exist in systems meant to ensure equal rights for everyone.
In addition to offering audiences a powerful artistic experience, the company hopes to spark conversation and reflection on our shared responsibility in this regard.

Prima Facie is written by Australian playwright Suzie Miller. The play has been staged in theatres around the world and has won numerous awards, including Best Script.
In short, the story follows defence lawyer Tessa Ensler, who has fought her way to the top as a highly skilled prosecutor.
When she herself is subjected to a violent incident, she experiences firsthand how the system does not serve everyone equally.
The play addresses themes such as rape, consent, burden of proof, and raises critical questions about our justice system.
